Ashill Village Hall, Devon
£130,000 renovating a village hall
The residents of the village of Ashill in Devon are renowned for their community spirit and fundraising efforts to enhance the local area’s services and amenities.
Their success in raising £20,000 towards the rebuilding of their Village Hall was recognised by Uffculme Environmental Ltd (the local body set up to administer the proceeds from the Landfill Communities Fund on behalf of Viridor Credits) when it awarded the villagers £130,000 towards it (facilitated by full Third Party Funding from Uffculme Parish Council).
A modern, functional, warm and welcoming hall which caters for up to 300 visitors has been built on the site of its inhospitable predecessor.
Ashill is very proud of its new village hall and bookings have increased since its renovation. It boasts bar facilities, a main hall, meeting room, skittle alley, and a well equipped kitchen available for a variety of community events and private functions. The Hall hosts the Annual Flower Show and Music Festival as well as cinema and theatre evenings, wine tastings, table-top sales, afternoon family entertainment and acts as a centre for ‘Horse and Rider’ days and treasure hunts.
